The official opening ceremony was attended by Evgeniya Aleksandrovna Krupina, Head of MEDSI Ophthalmology Center, Alexander Vladimirovich Trubilin, Chief Ophthalmologist, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Rodion Sergeevich Stupin, Operating Director of MEDSI Group, and Ased Gurbanovich Guliyev, Business Development Manager for Refractive Surgery at ZEISS Russia & CIS.
«The establishment of the Ophthalmology Center logically crowns everything that has been already accomplished at MEDSI in the field of ophthalmology. Currently, there are over 50 ophthalmology exam rooms at the MEDSI clinics. Thousands of patients with eye disorders are examined there every day. This is why the competence center was created, where we are able to provide high-technology medical assistance in a variety of fields in ophthalmic surgery.»
«On behalf of ZEISS Russia & CIS and on my own behalf, I would like to congratulate you on the opening of the new Ophthalmology Center and on the installation of this milestone ZEISS VisuMax femtosecond laser — the 50th in Russia and the CIS countries — at this particular clinic. Achieving success is always a team work. This is why we are confident that the expertise of your specialists and our equipment together will improve the quality of patients’ life and enable us to live in a brighter world.»
ReLEx SMILE is a femtosecond laser vision correction technology owned by Carl Zeiss Meditec company. It was developed in 2007 by a team of eye practitioners led by Walter Sekundo and Marcus Blum. SMILE surgery is performed with ZEISS VisuMax femtosecond laser and allows correction of myopia and astigmatism in a fast manner, with no pain and minimal surgical intervention.
By now it has been proved to be fully safe and effective. In the last two years, the number of SMILE surgeries has doubled: from 2 to 4 million. Russia ranks third overall (after China and South Korea) in the number of surgeries.
